We started as an agrodealer. Now we also power other agrodealers.
MlimiPay Limited is a Malawian company based in Lilongwe. Since 2021 we have helped smallholder farmers prepay for inputs with mobile money.
Our story
Farmers in Malawi earn most of their money at harvest, but they need seed and fertilizer months later at planting, often after prices have gone up. In 2021 we launched MlimiPay to close that gap. We buy inputs in advance and farmers prepay for them little by little using Airtel Money or TNM Mpamba. They pay by USSD, by tapping a card on MlimiPOS, and get SMS confirmations.
MlimiPay works, but one company can only reach so many farmers. Every new district needs stock, collection points and working capital to pre-procure inputs. Meanwhile, thousands of agrodealers, seed and fertilizer companies and cooperatives already serve those farmers. Many of them want to offer prepayment, but building it in-house is costly.
So we built MlimiPrepay: the same prepayment and redemption system, offered as infrastructure. Partners run their own programmes, with their own products, prices and customers. Payments go to the partner, not to us.

We act as the agrodealer. We onboard farmers directly, pre-procure inputs and sell them through advance payment.
MlimiPrepay
We act as infrastructure behind other agrodealers. They own their farmers, data and funds.
