How MlimiPrepay works

From your first customer to the last bag collected, here is the whole flow.

  1. 1. Onboarding

    We set up your company on MlimiPrepay: your outlets, collection points, staff users and payment option (your own merchant wallet or the MlimiPay gateway wallet). Your staff register customers in the portal, on MlimiPOS or by bulk upload.

  2. 2. Permanent numeric accounts

    Every customer gets a permanent numeric account number with your company. It stays the same from season to season, so customers can share a phone and still pay into their own account.

  3. 3. Seasons and campaigns

    Open a season with start and end dates, then run campaigns inside it, for example an early-bird drive after harvest.

  4. 4. Packages

    Define the input packages you sell, such as seed only, fertilizer only or a full acre pack, with your own prices and the stock you hold.

  5. 5. Promotions and custom bundles

    Add time-limited promotions or let customers build custom bundles from your products. All of this is your choice and your pricing.

  6. 6. The USSD journey

    Customers dial the shared USSD code. Their accounts are found from their phone number and listed with your company name, or they type their account number and confirm the holder's name before paying. They pick a package, pay any amount up to its balance with Airtel Money or TNM Mpamba and approve with their PIN. Each payment is confirmed by SMS with the new balance toward their inputs.

  7. 7. Redemption and collection points

    When a package is fully prepaid, the inputs are reserved for that customer. Your staff confirm collection on MlimiPOS or in the portal at any of your collection points, including offline.

  8. 8. References and audit trail

    Every payment, adjustment and redemption carries a unique reference and is logged with who did what, and when. This makes reconciliation and disputes simple.

Where does the money go?

Straight to you. Payments go to your own merchant wallet, or through the MlimiPay gateway wallet with an automatic, immediate sweep to your bank account. Payments and settlement explained.
